How to Play Yukon Solitaire
Yukon deals all 52 cards into seven columns. Column one holds a single face-up card; columns two to seven hold one to six face-down cards with five face-up cards on top. Move any face-up card, plus everything stacked on it, onto a card one rank higher of the opposite colour. Build four foundations Ace to King to win.
The rules, step by step
- 1Deal all 52 cards into seven columnsColumn one gets a single face-up card. Columns two to seven get one to six face-down cards each, topped with five face-up cards.
- 2Move any face-up card with its whole stackGrab a face-up card and everything above it comes too, sequence or not.
- 3Land on the opposite colour, one rank higherA black Nine goes onto a red Ten. Only the grabbed card has to match.
- 4Kings fill empty columnsAn empty column takes a King — and whatever it is carrying.
- 5Turn a face-down card when it is exposedThe last card of a column turns face up automatically.
- 6Build the four foundations Ace to King in suitMove all 52 cards up to win. There is no stock, so everything must come from the tableau.

What is the move rule exactly?
Pick any card that is face up. Every card above it in that column travels with it as a block. The destination is judged on the picked card alone: it must go onto a card one rank higher of the opposite colour, or into an empty column if it is a King.
How do you win more often?
- Foundations lastWith no stock, every card in the tableau is a potential landing place. Send up Aces and Twos and leave the rest until the columns are clear.
- Attack the deepest columnColumn seven hides six cards. Those are the ones that will strand you, and Yukon's move rule exists precisely so you can dig them out.
- Use riding stacks deliberatelyMoving a card with junk on top is free. Use it to relocate a whole mess out of the way of a card you actually need.
- Do not empty a column without a KingSame rule as Klondike: an empty column that no King can fill is a wasted asset.
Common questions about yukon solitaire
- Can you move cards back off the foundations in Yukon?
- Yes, and you will need to. With no stock, a card banked too early is sometimes the only way to unblock a column.
