Easthaven Solitaire
Easthaven crosses Klondike's tableau with Spider's stock. Seven columns of three cards each (two face down, one up) hold 21 cards; the other 31 form a stock that deals one card face up onto every column at once, never a waste pile. The tableau builds down in alternating colour, and — unlike Yukon — only a genuine ordered sequence may be picked up and moved together. Only a King fills an empty column. Bank all 52 cards to win.
New game deals a fresh shuffle, Hint highlights a legal move, and the three-dot menu at the end of the bar holds redo, auto-finish, today’s deal, the keyboard shortcuts and the rule set.

How do you play Easthaven solitaire?
Each of the seven tableau columns gets three cards: the bottom two face down, the top one face up — 21 cards in total. The remaining 31 cards form a face-down stock with no waste pile at all. Clicking the stock deals one card face up onto each of the seven columns at once, exactly the way Spider's stock does, rather than turning cards to a waste the way Klondike's does.
Once a card is on the tableau, though, the rules turn Klondike's: build down in alternating colour, and only a card, or a run that is already a genuine alternating-colour sequence, may be lifted and moved as a group. Easthaven does not have Yukon's "pick up anything, in any order" super-move — an empty column can be filled by a King-headed run precisely because sequence moves exist here in general, not only as a special case for empty columns.
How is Easthaven different from Yukon?
| Easthaven | Yukon | |
|---|---|---|
| Extra cards per column | One stock deal at a time | Dealt once, face up, at setup |
| Stock | 31 cards, deals to all columns | None |
| Pick up a group only if | It is a genuine sequence | Any face-up card + everything on it |
| Empty column takes | King, or a King-headed run | Any card |
Easthaven is sometimes described as a Yukon sibling built to be stricter and more tactical: instead of Yukon's front-loaded, no-more-cards-ever deal and its anything-goes pickup, Easthaven trickles a modest number of columns' worth of new cards in from the stock over the course of the game and requires every multi-card move to already be in proper order.
When can you deal from the stock?
Whenever you like, with one restriction used on this board: the deal is refused while any tableau column stands completely empty. Some published rule sets describe a more permissive, conditional version of this ban, but the flat "never while a column is empty" rule — the same one this site's Spider uses — never allows a deal that the more permissive rule would forbid, so it is a safe, unambiguous simplification.
How do you get better at easthaven?
- Untangle sequences before you need to move themA jumbled stack has to be broken apart one card at a time; an ordered one moves in a single click. Spend idle moves tidying columns into proper sequences before you actually need the flexibility.
- Think twice before the next stock dealEvery deal drops one unrelated card onto each column, which can break a sequence you were in the middle of building. Clear as much as you can from the tableau first.
- Guard your KingsWith sequence-only pickups, a buried King is harder to dig out than in Yukon, where any card could be moved to get at it. Try to keep at least one King reachable at all times.
- Prioritise the columns that started with only three cardsEvery column began this small, and none of them has the depth Klondike's seventh column does — a card that looks stuck in Easthaven can often be freed in far fewer moves than the same situation would take elsewhere.
Easthaven Solitaire questions people ask
- Can you move a stack of cards in Easthaven the way you can in Yukon?
- Only if that stack is already a proper alternating-colour sequence. Easthaven does not have Yukon's rule allowing any face-up card and everything on top of it to move regardless of order.
- Does the Easthaven stock deal to a waste pile?
- No. It deals one card face up onto every tableau column at once, the same way Spider's stock behaves, rather than building a waste pile the way Klondike's stock does.
- Does an empty column take any card in Easthaven?
- No — only a King, or a run headed by one, matching Klondike's rule rather than Yukon's more permissive one.
- How many cards are dealt to the Easthaven tableau at the start?
- Twenty-one — three to each of seven columns, with the bottom two face down and the top one face up. The other 31 cards sit in the stock.
